Searching for a top of the
line mobile phone can be a nightmare. With so many incredible devices on the
market, finding the one that's right for you and that's the best deal can seem
close to impossible. Really, the only way to make a good decision is by running
a head to head comparison, and that's where we're here to help. LG's latest
model is called the Spectrum, and it's pretty fancy looking, not to mention
reasonably priced and laden with features. But how does it hold up against the

Firstly,
the LG is an Android device, which means one very important thing. Android can
run multiple applications at the same time, letting you talk on Skype and
browse the internet simultaneously, for example. Apple can't do this. So if
you're a multi-tasker, this is a big advantage. The Spectrum is also faster,
running a 1500 MHz processor, versus an 800 MHz processor on the iPhone, making
it snappier and more responsive. It also runs double the RAM, which helps with
responsiveness but also makes the phone better able to handle running multiple
processes at the same time. The screen on the Spectrum is larger than that on
the iPhone, measuring in at 4.5 inches, rather than 3.5 inches. It also has
fifty per cent higher resolution, making it clearer and brighter. Finally, the
LG has faster maximum data speeds, meaning quicker downloading and faster
opening of web pages. Not a bad package.
Why You Should Buy an iPhone 4S...
The iPhone
has its own advantage though. The biggest of which is the potential internal
storage. Depending on which model you buy, the iPhone comes with up to 64 GB of
internal memory, the Spectrum with only 4 GB, that's a big difference in the
amount of music, photos, data and games you can store on your device. You get a
lot more talk time on the iPhone, which averages fourteen hours of talk time
per battery charge cycle as opposed to just eight on the LG. That means a lot
less phone charging to do. The iPhone runs a newer version of Bluetooth too,
coming equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 rather than the older 3.0 version on the
Spectrum. For users who frequently connect to Bluetooth devices (such as hands
free), this means faster data transfer and that your phone uses less battery
power when connecting to these devices. Finally, the iPhone is a lot smaller.
It's ten per cent thinner and forty per cent smaller in general than the LG,
which makes it a lot more portable...
Which One Should I Buy?!
It
really is a tough choice, because these are both great phones and have their
own unique advantages. In the end, we choose the extra power of the LG
Spectrum, although we're very tempted by the extra storage space on the
iPhone...

iPhone App Store has around thirty per cent more apps available than the
Android App Marketplace, giving you much more choice. And the iPhone is both
twenty per cent thinner and thirty per cent smaller generally than the Ascend,
making it that much more portable.
Why You Might Want the Huawei Ascend G330...
The
Ascend has a couple of tricks up its sleeve though. Firstly, being an Android
phone means that it can run multiple applications simultaneously, letting you
chat on Skype and surf the net at the same time, for example. It also has
better picture colour reproduction due to having a TFT LCD screen, rather than
the older LCD screen on the iPhone. And the screen is larger too, coming in at
four inches as compared to the iPhone's three and a half inches. Finally, the
Ascend is slightly faster, coming with a 1000 MHz processor rather than the 800
MHz one on the iPhone, meaning it's more powerful, snappier and more
responsive.
Is the iPhone Worth It?
In a
word, yes. Although we like the bigger screen and the faster processor on the
Huawei, the iPhone is just a better phone. Even though it's more expensive, the
increased storage, better picture quality and superior camera really do make
the iPhone 4S worth its price tag.
